Irish Medal at Table Tennis French Open

Just over 30 countries took part in a highly successful 2nd French Open from the 14th – 16th June 2012 in Nantes, France.
In a group featuring stiff competition, Ireland’s Philip Quinlan took gold in class 1 of the mens singles which included beating rival Silvio Keller from Switzerland in 5 sets.

In class 2 Ronan Rooney’s training has paid dividends with a great win over France’s Damien Bedos. He also fought off tough opposition before succumbing to world champion Serguey Poddoubnyi and claiming the silver medal.

The Irish duo continued their successful campaign by taking the bronze in the team event.
