Paralympics Ireland is the National Paralympic Committee for Ireland and is responsible for preparing and managing the Irish team at the Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games Held every four years in parallel with the Olympic Games this is the premier multisport event for elite athletes with disabilities. A team of 49 strong Irish athletes across ten sports competed in the 2012 ‘Home Games’ in London returning home having achieved success beyond all expectations winning sixteen medals; eight gold, three silver and five bronze. Disability sport Paralympics Ireland also aims to ensure that Paralympic sports are accessible and offer the ultimate dream to those who reach elite standards of performance; the opportunity to represent Ireland at the Paralympic Games.
