Upcoming Paracycling Road World Cup is last opportunity for Irish para-cyclists to earn Rio selection points

There’s a busy couple of days ahead for the Irish para-cycling squad as the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup in Belgium gets underway.

A large number of Irish riders are participating including, Eoghan Clifford, Colin Lynch, Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal, Ciara Staunton, Declan Slevin, Peter Ryan and Sean Hahessy and Damien Vereker and Marcin Mizgayski to name just a few of the Irish squad.

Speaking about the event, Irish para-cycling coach Neill Delahaye said: “This second round of the UCI Paracycling Road World Cup is a landmark event for us. We have a record number of entries which shows the dynamism and progression of our domestic Paracycling programs.

"Everyone is keen to perform at their best as these races are one of the last viable opportunities to earn Rio selection points and provide a valuable opportunity to race against the same bikes and nations we expect to be competing against at the Games. There is a big entry for this WC and we are looking forward to mixing it with the best in the world once more."
