Ireland has a very proud tradition in sport for elite athletes with a disability and Paralympics Ireland is committed to ensuring ongoing success. The Paralympic Games represent the pinnacle competition for athletes across various sports.
Paralympics Ireland Panel
Each listed sport and athlete is part of an elite high-performance panel announced in January 2011. Irish Paralympic athletes have travelled round the world in 2011 bidding to qualify for London 2012. Although this process will not complete until summer 2012, Ireland is guaranteed to compete in at least nine of the 20 sports on view.
Non-panel sports
There are a number of sports currently not represented on the high-performance panel (e.g. wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and CP 7-a-side football). If you’d like to participate in those sports, please get in touch directly with our member organisations.
