Ireland has a very proud tradition in sport for elite athletes with a disability and Paralympics Ireland is committed to ensuring ongoing success. The Paralympic Games represent the pinnacle competition for athletes across various sports. Paralympics Ireland Squad Irish Paralympic athletes travelled round the world bidding to qualify for London 2012. The 49-strong 2012 Irish Paralympic team was announced on 28 June and Ireland will compete in ten of the 20 sports at the Games. Non-panel sports There are a number of sports currently not represented on the high-performance panel (e.g. wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and CP 7-a-side football).
