Paralympics Ireland welcomes Niamh Buffini as new Performance Operations Manager
Paralympics Ireland is this week welcoming a new member to the team at their headquarters in Dublin, as Niamh Buffini has joined the organization as the Performance Operations Manager.
Niamh, who comes to Paralympics Ireland from Taekwondo Ireland, has a long history of working in the field of sport, having also previously worked with inter-county GAA stars, and a number of elite athletes.
She has participated in sport for the last 17 years and holds a 5th degree master in the sport of WTF Taekwondo and is currently the highest-ranking female practitioner of the sport in Ireland. She has also coached for the last ten years, including at two World Championships, two European Championships and has also led athletes to the European Olympic qualifiers.
Niamh, who is a nationally qualified Strength and Conditioning coach, also holds an honours degree in Sport Science and Health from IT Tallaght, where she majored in Exercise Physiology in her final year.
Now, as Performance Operations Manager for Paralympics Ireland, she will be working closely with Performance Director, Dave Malone, on preparations for the holding camp in Uberlandia, Brazil and the Games in Rio. She will also play an integral part in managing the operations for Tokyo 2020.
“I am delighted to be joining Paralympics Ireland at this exciting time,” she said. “I am really looking forward to helping to facilitate the sports at the Games in Rio and following on towards future Games.”
Also speaking about the appointment, Performance Director, Dave Malone added: “We are thrilled to welcome Niamh to our team here at Paralympics Ireland. She brings a lot of experience to the role and we are really looking forward to the enthusiasm and dedication she will undoubtedly bring to the position.”
